A Comparison Analysis of Causative Impact of PM2.5 on Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in Two Typical Cities in China

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major and increasingly prevalent respiratory health problem worldwide the fine particulate matter (PM2.5) now becoming rising threat to it. This study aims conduct comparison analysis of effect on acute exacerbation COPD (AECOPD) associated with PM2.5 exposure in two typical cities (Beijing Shenzhen) different levels pollution. Both correlational relationship causal connection between AECOPD are investigated by adopting time series based generalized additive model (GAM) convergent cross mapping (CCM). The results from GAM indicate that 10 μg/m3 increase concentration 2.43% (95% CI, 0.50–4.39%) Lag0-2 Beijing, compared 6.65% 2.60–10.87%) Lag0-14 Shenzhen. causality detection CCM reveals similar significant causative impact both areas.
